She is a descendant of Greek immigrants, Antonios and Joanna Savaris, and is a member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of Lowell, Massachusetts, the first Greek Orthodox church built in the the United States.
She speaks and writes in both Greek and English. She also writes poetry and is the recipient of The Editor’s Choice Award by The International Library of Poetry. She is very versatile in her writing and has written many children’s books as well as poetry and stories about everyday life.
